Tuckasee Highway Band Bio

The Tuckasee Highway Band has united musicians from varied backgrounds to put their unique stamp on traditional country music. Singer John Fee has been singing classic country music for most of his life, from playing small shows around his hometown of Harlan, KY, to recording in Nashville. Guitarist Josh Brown has played in various bands around Knoxville, honing in on sharp modern guitar-rock, a la The Black Keys and The White Stripes. Blues Harpist/Vocalist Jim McMillan brings the soul of old-school blues and southern rock. Drummer Joshua Sheffield has rocked Knoxville, playing punk and high-energy garage rock.

However, they come together over a mutual love of classic and outlaw country, creating a sound that both honors the traditions and roots of country music, while also blending and experimenting with each member’s unique style. On paper, it may look like a strange blending of styles, but the result is a sound that is at one moment the heartfelt vocals and crying steel-guitar sounds of George Jones, and, at another, the roadhouse stomp of Waylon Jennings or The Georgia Satellites. Through it all, there is the love of great traditional country and roots music, a genuine love for their audience, and the drive to put on a great show every time they hit the stage.
