A Celebration Of Christmas Music

The 11th annual Dr. Eric Littleton's Christmas Celebration of music was a welcome warm up to the Christmas Holiday.

The addition of the Roane County Children's Theatre Group choir was a nice touch to the Christmas show. I sure hope they come back again, and I look forward to their many live plays on the Princess stage.

Plan on coming next year

Courtney Minton To Assume Princess Theatre Manager Role

Seems like yesterday, but it was April 2016 when we first met Darren York.  For the past 6 years, Darren has been managing the Princess Theatre, and I must say he performed his job extremely well.  He had the knowledge of and love for the Princess necessary to drive the theater forward, and I congratulate him on his performance!

Now it's time for Courtney Minton to shine!  There is no doubt she will.  She comes from a background of education and theater production/direction and has already been working with the Princess for over 6 years.  Courtney has been leading the area youth in numerous stage plays, all of which are documented within this blog.

Courtney taught math and theatre arts at Midway High School for the last seven years.  The children that have worked with her in the classroom and on her many stage productions have loved her easy manner and kind direction.  That part of her will carry over into her daily guidance of our beloved Princess!

Courtney will also be managing the O'Brien Theatre at Roane State Community College, where she will also be teaching theatre art as an associate professor.

She's going to be busy, and we wish her well!

QR Codes Coming To Aid In Staying Current On Upcoming Events

Finally, something I've advocated for is happening. These posters will be present inside the Princess. They are QR codes for the various places one can go to keep up with the upcoming events, and to see my photos of the live events! Occasionally the historical blog, and Facebook sites would be mentioned, but there was never a surefire way to get folks to the helpful information. Now, just point your cellphone and go to one of the sites that will keep you informed and entertained!

This “almost super group” of musicians have shared the stage with a wide range of industry giants from U2 and Pearl Jam to Run DMC and Public Enemy.

Collectively, they are creating HYSTERIA in the suburbs as Nashville’s Def Leppard Tribute: DAVE FLEPPARD!

Come experience the music of Def Leppard performed live by some of rock & roll’s hardest working musicians, techs, writers and universally good dudes.

Josh Wilson's Princess History Project Video Has Been Completed

Here is a Josh Wilson's Princess project video he and others are doing for class credit at Pellissippi State Community College. There may be some small future tweaks to the video, but I love what has been done. Great job Josh, with thanks to Courtney Minton, and Cecil Johnson for their time and effort.

The sixth annual Tennessee Pirate Fest invites you to go back in time to the Age of Piracy.  This outdoor daytime entertainment-oriented festival will be held the last two weekends in May plus Memorial Day at the Tennessee Medieval Faire site in Harriman--just 30 miles west of Turkey Creek.  Patrons will be transported to the pirate haven of Barataria, Louisiana, circa 1814.

Get Yer Pirate On! with pirate Captain Jean Lafitte before the Battle of New Orleans.  Enjoy his French hospitality as he entertains British Red Coats, New Orleans’ socialites, pirates of Barataria, and even supernaturals.  Escape on a pirate adventure for the whole family,” said Barrie Paulson, VP/Director.

Rotating on several stages will be professional touring and local talent.  Pirate music will be brought to you by Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers, The CrossJacks, Ship Shape (May 21-22), and Kris Colt (May 28-29-30).  Interactive danger shows will be performed by The Flaming Ginger and The Lords of Adventure.  For the young at heart, there will be the slapstick puppet show, Punch and Judy; Pirattitude by Roane Children’s Theatre; and classical youth musicians with Bravura Music Academy on Saturdays.  Interactive costumed street characters will seek to entertain in Kombat Kroquet, Lafitte’s Follies, Secrets of Barataria, and Throw Me A Line.  For those who like slightly spooky entertainment, Captain Davy Jones and Calypso will guide those willing on the Trail of Doom (PG)--a pirate version of A Christmas Carol.  Entertainment schedules will be available online and at the entrance.

Patrons are encouraged to dress in pirate or Regency era costumes and enter the Costume Contest.  All can learn to be a pirate in Pirate School and compete in yard games in Pirate Olympics.  Patrons are encouraged to share their talents on stage in the Gong Shows and play characters in classic Fairytales.  All are invited to be part of the mid-day parade, where the Bucketeers will be featured on Saturdays.  Other free activities will include corn hole, volleyball, the stocks, giant chess, and steel drum.  There will also be games to play for a fee, including Sword Master’s Challenge and Adventures by Torchlight.  Donations will be encouraged for photos with the mermaids; Captain Redbeard and his pyRAT, Chumley; and goats in the petting zoo.

The merchants of Barataria will be selling their custom wares such as costumes, leather pouches, chainmaille, drinking horns, goat soaps, blacksmith items, gaming accessories, custom wooden signs, and unique jewelry.  A variety of food will be available, including Caribbean-styled BBQ, grilled chicken wraps and salads, seafood skewers and sandwiches, sweet baked goods, and shaved ice.  Beverages will also be available, including water, soda, sweet tea, and beer.  Vendors are independent entities and accept cash and credit; and a list of vendors and their wares can be found at www.TNPirateFest.com

Opening Thursday, April 7 and running through Saturday, April 9, the Roane County Children’s Theatre presents Michael Wehrli’s Law and Disorder: The Case of B.B. Wolf, The Stolen Tarts, and Mass Confusion.

Resurrection - A Journey Tribute Brought The Music Saturday Night At The Princess

Keyboardist, Vic White, first heard "the Voice" of Ryan Christopher while they performed with a popular Nashville-based 80's act in 2011. "Ryan knew one of the guys in the band, and he had been invited to sit in that night to sing Separate Ways and Lights with us", explains Vic. "The moment Ryan took the stage, my jaw hit the floor from watching his precise Steve Perry mannerisms and hearing his spot-on rendition of Perry's voice! Since I grew up a big Journey fan during the '80's, that was the most fun I had experienced on stage in quite some time."

In 2013 Vic White, Ryan Christopher, and the band set out to create the most authentic Journey experience anyone could ever witness, they spent countless hours discussing the look, sound, production, and FEEL needed for this Journey tribute to deliver a live experience that would resonate on the highest level with the most avid Journey fan.

On March 10, 2014, at Gray's on Main in Franklin, TN, the band "Resurrection - A Journey Tribute" struck its first notes in front of a live audience. The band has been on a whirlwind journey ever since, growing quickly from a weekend-warrior act into one of the most highly sought-after tribute experiences in the country. Those of us that attended last night's performance, can attest to their authenticity!  It was awesome!

The music took everyone back to 80's and out of their seats to dance in the aisles!

The house was packed, and everyone seemed to have a great time, but we missed you!

Here's what you missed:
