Darkhorse Entertainment, LLC, is announcing the first annual Tennessee Pirate Fest to be held on Columbus Day weekend in October. This family-friendly event will be in Harriman at the Tennessee Medieval Faire site--just 30 miles west of Turkey Creek. All are invited to the fictional pirate haven of Port Royale in the Tortugas, circa 1700-1800’s.
The Pirates of the Caribbean movies are popular, and acting like a pirate is fun for all ages. ARRR!” said Barrie Paulson, VP-Manager & Entertainment Director.

Pirate entertainment will include live music, comedy stage shows, interactive street characters, costume contests, beach games, original crafts, delicious food, and refreshing beverages--including beer.

Open auditions for interactive street characters will be held on Saturdays, July 30 and August 6, from 2-5p, at 125 Barrie Ln, Kingston, TN. Auditions will include individuals demonstrating talents such as singing, playing an instrument, speaking like a pirate, telling jokes or tall tales, and participating in improvisational games. To audition, costumes are encouraged but not required, and performance experience is helpful but not necessary.

Festival organizers are seeking quality craft and food vendors to fill the village. Vendor applications and guidelines can be downloaded from the website www.TNPirateFest.com under the vendor tab. The application deadline is September 1st.

The Tennessee Pirate Fest will take place October 8-9-10 from 11a-6p ET--rain or shine. Ticket prices will be $13.00 for ages 13 and up, $8.00 for ages 5 to 12, and free for ages 4 and under. The Princess Gets A New Movie Quality Projector!

A new Panasonic projector with new lens was installed at the Princess today, by Jon Chemay and Morgan Anderson (photos by Darren York)!  The $7K projector is capable of projecting DVD or Blue Ray.  The last projector was unable to do Blue Ray.  The clarity and precision is MUCH, MUCH better; what you would expect of a Turkey Creek, or Oak Ridge movie projector.  Darren York says the colors are stunning!

The Panasonic PT-DW830 8500 Lumens 1-Chip DLP Projector (Black) features a dynamic RGB Booster to provide high picture quality and color reproduction and DIGITAL LINK for All-in-One connectivity.

With the incorporation of the new 420W dual lamp and new lamp drive system, the PT-DW830 is able to deliver a high brightness of 8500 lumens in an incredibly compact body.

The Panasonic proprietary Dynamic RGB booster, which has been enhanced, provides images with brilliant color and brightness, optimizing lamp intensity of individual red, green and blue colors according to each scene.  Detail Clarity Processor 3 improves the clarity, detail and depth of images and the System Daylight View 2 function also helps maintain picture quality, even in a bright room. The Series is 3D-compatible and supports various 3D formats including frame packing, side by side, top and bottom, line by line and simultaneous.

The projector delivers continuous immersive image quality
thanks to its shielded optical system which effectively blocks dust and its new heat pipe system which enables an efficient cooling system. The PT-DW830 is also designed with a dual lamp system that eliminates projection interruption due to a lamp failure.  The Lamp Relay mode alternates operation of each lamp to enable 24/7 operation of the projector. Furthermore, its lamp replacement cycle has been improved compared to conventional Panasonic 1-chip DLP models and is now up to 3000 hours in normal mode and 4000 hours in eco mode for reduced maintenance.

The Panasonic PT-DW830 8500 Lumens 1-Chip DLP Projector, has a Powered Zoom Lens, a 10000:1 Contrast Ratio, with WXGA 1280x800 Resolution, 16:10 Aspect Ratio, and is 3D ready.

This means two things: your donations and patronage has paid for a new "state-of-the-art" projector for our Princess, and from now on, all movies will look the way they are supposed to...GREAT!  Can't wait to see it in action!
