Dedicated Delbert McClinton followers filled the main floor of the Princess Theatre Saturday evening to celebrate their favorite performer!
It had been some time since I'd seen people dancing in front of the stage, but Delbert's "groupies" were out in force and cheered him own. There was plenty of interaction between follower and performer, and Delbert provided a great set of his oldies and latest recordings to keep them moving!
The band is always as entertaining as their leader, and your attention is drawn from one to another as the songs progress. There is a lot to take in, with Jack Bruno on drums, and the beautiful fill notes of Quentin 'Q" Ware (trumpet) and Dana Robbins (saxophone)! As usual, to push it over the top is the guitar of James Pennebaker, who is like family to Delbert, and has been with him since he was 19. There was Mike Joyce on bass, Kevin McKendree on the Hammond keyboard, plus the wonderful lead of Bob Britt, who is always out front with Delbert.
