"Trop Rocks The Smokies" Comes To The Princess!

Keep the flip-flops, suntan lotion, and the love-the-beach state of mind, it’s not quite fall yet. It’s time for some Trop Rock music to move your soul and mind.

Trop Rock is generally, but not exclusively, about boats, beaches and bars. It can be rock, country, reggae, blues, jazz or just about any other style of music that makes you feel good and smile. The purpose of the event, Trop Rocks The Smokies, is to bring Trop Rock to the mainstream of the listening public, for those who love the music and those that may not be all that familiar with it and a gathering for those with a Parrothead persuasion.

Trop Rocks The Smokies will be kicking off its 5th year on September 7 & 8th with a great lineup of music for everyone as Parrothead music and Parrotheads across the country come together to enjoy their own brand of music with some of the top artist in their genes.

In previous years this event was held in Pigeon Forge, but in 2012 it is hitting the road to Historic Roane County, and the beautiful cities of Rockwood, Kingston, Oliver Springs, and Harriman, where on Friday night the UNPLUGGED SONGWRITER JAM & PARTY will take place at the REC (Rockwood Event Center)!

The REC building was built in the 1900's as a Ford tractor supply, later in the 30's it was a Desoto dealership. Now it is the leading place to party and enjoy LIVE music with the best sound & lights in Rockwood.

On Saturday, just a few miles down the road in Harriman, Trop Rocks The Smokies will take up in the recently renovated PRINCESS THEATRE. Built in 1926, this old movie theater has been transformed into a beautiful performance theatre. The Afternoon Delite Series will start at 1pm till 5pm, with the main concert starting at 7pm.

Hosting the musical extravaganza will be Jack Mosley, this songwriter is from Panama City, Florida, but moved to Nashville a few years back. After doing his time in Nashville and finding his style of music didn’t fit his predetermined mold and he didn’t really look that good in a cowboy hat, he moved back to the Florida Gulf Coast. Jack has recorded over 5 cd’s and crisscrosses the country performing his music.

Guests artists included  Hugo Dvarte, like good Cuban food, Hugo's music is A combination of a little of this,a little of that and a whole lot of down to earth ingredients that come together in an adventure of the senses. Such are the talents of this remarkably talented singer-songwriter. A regular on the Key West circuit, thousands have enjoyed his music & stories. It was in the early Key West days that Hugo met and developed a professional friendship with the calypso poet, Jimmy Buffett. Over the years Buffett would call or stop by when he was in town, often sitting in with Hugo and the band. They occasionally shared the stage at a locally owned bar call DelRios, which today is the site of the original Margaritaville Bar & Restaurant.

Paul Roush, as the vocal front man for several bands in the 80's & 90's and later for the highly successful Trop-Rock band "Phins"(winners of the 2008 Trop Rock Horizon Award),Paul decided in 2010 to venture out on his own. With over 30 years of musical influences, he has developed his own particular songwriting style that pleases his audiences.

Also on the concert will be our very special guest Thom Shepherd, this legendary songwriter has been writing hit tunes for artists such as George Jones, Tracy Lawrence, and has 4 number one songs to his credit such as "Riding With Private Malone", "Redneck Yault Club" , "Beer Season" and  "My Texas". Thom is active during as an artist not only here in the USA but overseas where he has performed in over 19 countries.
