Larry Raspberry (of "Keep On Dancing" fame) To Open For Delbert McClinton May 11th

Before Delbert McClinton hits the Princess Theatre stage on May 11, you'll be treated to the high energy of Larry Raspberry.  Cub Koda once described Larry this way, "On-stage, Larry Raspberry was a true dynamo, going back and forth between funky lead guitar and Jerry Lee Lewis-style piano pounding, all the while working the crowd like an evangelist full of spiritualistic fervor."

Larry Raspberry is a celebrated and consistent part of the American Music  scene representing a significant part of the Memphis Music heritage.  Larry is more active than ever as a performer, recording artist, public speaker, songwriter and producer of unique commissioned shows featuring some of the most famous rock and roll performers of the 60s, 70s, and 80s in his Rock For Real Revue.

Larry started by founding, leading and singing lead in the top ten hit record band The Gentrys (Keep On Dancing - #4 Billboard rock charts — MOM Records). The Gentrys were honored by the Memphis Music Foundation with a commemorative Note on Beale Street in 2012.

Following The Gentrys, Larry formed his band Larry Raspberry and The Highsteppers and recorded for Max Records, Mercury Records and Larry's labels Backroom Records and Intense Records.  He has 6 CDs in release at the present time with plans underway for 2 more CDs in the next 12 months.  Larry Raspberry and The Highsteppers were honored by the Memphis Music Foundation with a commemorative Note on Beale Street in 2015.

Princess Theatre Foundation Hosts 5th Annual Multi-County Talent Show - March 22

The Princess Theatre Foundation will host its annual talent show, now in its 5th year on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Princess Theatre in Harriman at 6 pm.

Categories for this year’s show will include music (individual and group), dance (solo and group), drama (skits, variety acts, monologues), and visual arts and literature (drawings, paintings, poetry, literature, crafts).

The entry fee is $25 per act (group or individual). If paying by check, please make it out to the Princess Theatre Foundation.

There will be a Princess Idol Award given to the overall winner of stage performances only. Winners in each category and age group will receive a trophy and a gift certificate to a local restaurant. Age categories are K-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

General admission is $5 for adults. All area students and participants are admitted FREE. Deadline to enter is Friday, March 16, 2018.

There will be a dress rehearsal on March 21st beginning at 4 p.m. which will include a sound check. If you are unable to attend, please arrive early on Thursday to do a sound check prior to the performance. Entries for the art/literature portion must be submitted by March 16, 2018.  If art/literature entries need to be picked up, arrangements must be made prior to March 16.

Sidewalk art will begin on March 21, in front of the Princess Theatre. It is FREE and chalk will be provided.

Please fill out a form (see forms below) to register. Local students can get them from their school or you can visit the Princes Theatre Foundation’s page to print a form. These forms must be turned in by March 16.

Local merchants and interested individuals help sponsor the event which showcases school children’s talent and gives them a chance to perform live on stage. Long-time supporter of the Princess and movie actor MUSE WATSON will be on hand to greet theatre goers.

There will once again be sidewalk art beginning the day before the show.

John Condrone, a performing artist will emcee the show and perform along with previous Princess idol winners.

Live the Age of Chivalry at the Tennessee Medieval Faire - Audition Feb. 10th!

Darkhorse Entertainment, LLC, invites you to time-travel back to the Middle Ages at the fourth annual Tennessee Medieval Faire.  The festival is located in Harriman near I-40 just 30 miles west of Turkey Creek.  This rugged outdoor festival will spring to life on May 19 and run for three weekends, including Memorial Day.

“Our theme this year is Robin Hood, and patrons are invited to Live the Age of Chivalry in the High Middle Ages (circa 1194).  Patrons can interact with well-loved characters of Sherwood Forest, meet Maid Marian, and even get knighted,” said Barrie Paulson, VP-Manager and Entertainment Director.

The festival will include continuous professional family-friendly entertainment.  In the tournament arena will be Real Jousting and Warriors’ Chess, where the evil Sheriff of Nottingham and his henchmen square off against good Robin and his Merry Men.  There will also be interactive comedy shows, puppet shows, Irish and Celtic music, English folk dances, patron costume contests, and costumed street characters.  In addition, vendors will be selling medieval crafts, food and beverages, including beer.

  
For those interested in participating as street characters, open auditions are Saturday, February 10, 17 and 24, from 2-5pm at 125 Barrie Lane, Kingston, TN.  Auditioners are asked to come prepared to demonstrate their talents, for example:  sing, play an instrument, tell a story in character, dance, and participate improvisational games.  Adults (ages 18+) are preferred.  Experience and costumes are helpful, but not required to audition.  Professional acts can audition by emailing show details and a video link to DarkhorseLLC@comcast.net.

The Faire is also seeking vendors to help create the village.  Vendors must make and sell their own wares, and all work will be juried to ensure quality and fit.  The application deadline is April 2.  Medieval crafts may include leather, glass, wood, cloth, metal, henna, face-painting and hair-braiding.  Medieval foods may include turkey legs, gyros, dragon jerky, Scotch eggs, bread bowl soup, pastries, fruit and desserts.  Please visit www.TMFaire.com under the vendor tab to download the applications. 

The Tennessee Medieval Faire is a family-friendly outdoor festival.  Dates are May 19-20, 26-27-28, June 2-3.  Hours are 10am-5pm ET.  Ticket prices are $17 for ages 13+, $9 for ages 5 to 12, and free for ages 4 and under.  Field parking is free.  The festival is located at 550 Fiske Road, Harriman, TN.

From the Mountains of East Tennessee, Southern Gospel Music fills the air and is the home of The Kingdom Heirs, one of Southern Gospel Music’s top Male Quartets. The group started performing in local churches and concert halls and as their music and message spread to a wider audience, so did their popularity and demand. Later in 1982 they began singing at the Silver Dollar City theme park, which is now Dollywood. In 1986 when the theme park took on their new name, The Kingdom Heirs were asked to become the resident gospel group and now this year, both The Kingdom Heirs and Dollywood will be celebrating 32 years together.  Not only are they one of Dollywood’s favorites, but a favorite to millions everywhere.

The Kingdom Heirs have been nominated many times for industry awards such as The SGMA Awards, Dove Awards and The Singing News Fan Awards. Winning Newcomer Group of the Year in 1989, the group has been a constant favorite. Their latest album “The Last Big Thing” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Charts, October 2017.  The latest award is 2017 Band of the Year, which the band also won in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. They have also had many top ten songs, and currently have had 43 top 5 songs in a row and 11 number 1 songs including “I’ll Know I’m Home“, “The Borrowed Tomb”, “Just Beyond The Sunset” (Nominated for Song of the Year), “Just Preach Jesus” (Nominated for Song of the Year), “Tell Me Why” and “He Locked The Gates”. Two songs “The Chain Gang” and “Pieces” off of their highly successful album, “A New Look” were nominated for a Dove Award in 2016 and the most recent album “The Last Big Thing” debuted #1 on the Billboard Chart. Over the past years they have had 29 songs nominated for Song of the Year.

With a nine-month schedule performing to thousands of people a year at Dollywood, the group also tours for eight weeks, January through March. All of their tour scheduling is done in house.
