6th Annual Multi-County Talent And Art Show A Success...as usual!

The 6th Annual Multi-County Talent And Art Show was a great hit with parents and students alike.
The auditorium was filled with excited parents, grandparents, and anxious children.  They could hardly wait for the showcase of talent to begin.
The 2019 Princess Idol was Noah Schantz from Central High School in Wartburg, TN.  Noah's vocal and piano solo won the night's coveted first place award.

He was entered in the Vocal/Instrumental (9-12) group, and the announcement seem to at once shock and please the young man.  It was a deserving win!
The outgoing 2018 Princess Idol, Canon Allen (L), presented Noah (R) the large first place trophy.

If it were not for this annual event, the hidden talents of the children of Roane, Morgan, and Anderson County would go unnoticed, and possibly lost forever.  Your support of this annual event, presented by the Princess Theatre Foundation, and numerous local sponsors, provides an outlet for young talent and encourages them to push forward to make their dreams come true.  Art is a very important factor in a child's education and self-esteem!

By the way, not only is music involved in this contest, there is also some poetry, sidewalk art, and wonderful visionary art from kids from kindergarten through the twelfth grades.  Above is just a small example.

As usual, the host for the evening was John Condrone.  The untiring efforts of Vera Scarbrough, Paige Byrd, Madeline Kittrell make this annual event possible.

Also, I have to mention Jimbo Duncan, who, if he can walk and breathe, will always be on hand to set up the stage, and help in anyway possible.  Thanks to all!

Last, but not least, let me thank Julie and Justin Crowe for their difficult task of judging this event.

Now for the "rest of the story" in my favorite photos from the talent show.

Hope to see you all next March!

Delbert McClinton Packed The Princess Floor With Admirers

Dedicated Delbert McClinton followers filled the main floor of the Princess Theatre Saturday evening to celebrate their favorite performer!
It had been some time since I'd seen people dancing in front of the stage, but Delbert's "groupies" were out in force and cheered him own.  There was plenty of interaction between follower and performer, and Delbert provided a great set of his oldies and latest recordings to keep them moving!
The band is always as entertaining as their leader, and your attention is drawn from one to another as the songs progress.  There is a lot to take in, with Jack Bruno on drums, and the beautiful fill notes of Quentin 'Q" Ware (trumpet) and Dana Robbins (saxophone)!  As usual, to push it over the top is the guitar of James Pennebaker, who is like family to Delbert, and has been with him since he was 19.  There was Mike Joyce on bass, Kevin McKendree on the Hammond keyboard, plus the wonderful lead of Bob Britt, who is always out front with Delbert.
Bottom line...you missed a another great concert if you were not there dancing in the isles!

Here are some of my favorite shots from Saturday night:

Celebrate Chivalry with 5th Annual Tennessee Medieval Faire

The 2019 Tennessee Medieval Faire
Open Auditions February 9, 16; March 2

Vendors Needed – Application Deadline April 6

Darkhorse Entertainment, LLC, invites you to travel back in time to celebrate the high Middle Ages with Robin Hood at the fifth annual Tennessee Medieval Faire.  This rugged outdoor festival will spring to life on Saturday, May 25, and run for three weekends, including Memorial Day.  The festival is located in Harriman near I-40 just 30 miles west of Turkey Creek.

“Help us celebrate our 5th year!  ‘Live the Age of Chivalry!’  Enjoy real jousting.  Eat a turkey leg.  Get knighted.  This year we plan on having different themed weekends, such as ‘Warriors’ for Memorial weekend and ‘Time-Travel.’  Come out and have fun.  There is something for everyone.” said Barrie Paulson, VP-Manager and Entertainment Director.

The festival will include continuous professional PG entertainment.  In the tournament arena will be live Jousting and Warriors’ Chess.  There will also be interactive comedy shows, puppet shows, Irish and Celtic music, English folk dances, patron costume and talent contests, and interactive costumed street characters.  In addition, vendors will be selling medieval crafts, food and beverages, including beer.

For those interested in participating as street characters, open auditions will be held on Saturdays, February 9, 16, and March 2, from 2-5pm at 125 Barrie Lane, Kingston, TN.

New auditioners are asked to bring a recent printed selfie.  All should come prepared to demonstrate their performance talents, such as singing, playing an instrument, telling a story in character, speaking in a European accent, and participating as directed.  Adults (ages 18+) are preferred.  Theatrical experience and costumes are helpful, but not required to audition.  Professional acts can audition by emailing show details and a video link to DarkhorseLLC@comcast.net.

The Faire is also seeking vendors to help create the village.  Vendors must make and sell their own wares, and all work will be juried to ensure quality and fit.  The application deadline is April 6.  Medieval crafts may include leather, glass, wood, cloth, metal, henna, face-painting, and hair-braiding.  Medieval foods may include turkey legs, gyros, kabobs, loaded baked potatoes, Scotch eggs, bread bowl soup, pastries, fruit, and desserts.  Please visit www.TMFaire.com under the vendor tab to download the invitation, application, and guidelines.

The Tennessee Medieval Faire is an outdoor entertainment-oriented interactive themed festival.  Dates are May 25-26-27, June 1-2, 8-9.  Hours are 11am-6pm ET.  Ticket prices are $17 for ages 13+, $8 for ages 5 to 12, and free for ages 4 and under.  Field parking is free.  The festival is located at 550 Fiske Road, Harriman, TN.  For more information, please visit www.TMFaire.com, follow the Tennessee Medieval Faire on Facebook, or call 865-376-0319.

From the mountains of East Tennessee, Southern Gospel Music fills the air and is the home of The Kingdom Heirs, one of Southern Gospel Music’s top Male Quartets. The group started performing in local churches and concert halls and as their music and message spread to a wider audience, so did their popularity and demand. Later in 1982 they began singing at the Silver Dollar City theme park, which is now Dollywood. In 1986 when the theme park took on their new name, The Kingdom Heirs were asked to become the resident gospel group and now this year, both The Kingdom Heirs and Dollywood will be celebrating 33 years together.
Not only are they one of Dollywood’s favorites, but a favorite to millions everywhere. The Kingdom Heirs have been nominated many times for industry awards such as The SGMA Awards, Dove Awards and The Singing News Fan Awards. Since winning Newcomer Group of the Year in 1989, the group has been a constant favorite.
