The Sound Man - Pat Brandon

I would like to high highlight Pat Brandon, a lead technician at Roane State and for the Princess Theatre. He works behind the scenes at the Princess doing an awesome job on the sound we hear. However, if you notice the next time you enter the auditorium, he is one of the first things you will see. Pat sits inconspicuously behind the partition that surrounds the sound and lighting control booth.

Pat studied fine art at the Academy of Art University, and scenic painting at New York Cobalt Studios. He has designed lights and sets for a vast number of productions, including but not limited to the premier of Prince of Egypt on stage, the stage premiere of Enchanted April, Music Man, High School Musical, Wizard of Oz, Into The Woods, Annie, and many more. Prior to joining the staff at Roane State, Pat most recently worked with the Theatre Department at Castro Valley High School as a master teacher in technical theatre, where he had been since 2008. Beginning in 1995 and continuing until his recent relocation, he was the Technical Director for Neighborhood Church in Castro Valley, CA. He has also designed the lights and set for Trinity Lyric Opera, served as the Technical Director of the Neighborhood Youth Theater from 1997-2019, and provided after-school arts education and an assembly program to the local public, private, and home school organizations.

Next time you attend a live music concert, or hear a great stage play, remember to thank Pat Brandon as you leave the theater auditorium, for his “sound” efforts on your behalf!

Prince Tribute Band "Purple Madness" Rocks The Princess

Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called life
Electric word life
It means forever and that's a mighty long time
But I'm here to tell you
There's something else
The afterworld
A world of never-ending happiness
You can always see the sun, day or night

"Let's Go Crazy" (from the "Purple Rain" soundtrack)
Well, we did go a little crazy last evening as Bobby Miller lead us in a wonderful tribute to the sounds of PRINCE!

The “Purple Madness” is the ultimate celebration of the most widely beloved entertainer and profoundly influential artist of all-time. Bobby Miller presents an electrifying performance that can be best described as, high energy and a “must see” performance.
The Prince Purple Madness Tribute Show have all but perfected every last nuance in recreating the sights and sounds of the artist Prince.  It is with great honor and utmost reverence that The Prince Tribute Band was formed.

For anyone who wasn't fortunate enough to have witnessed the live show last night, you missed one of the best performances we've had at the Princess Theatre!  Collectively, the band has over 100 years of music experience.  The group lovingly describes their show as a performance that is second to none.
Bobby Miller, front man since early childhood, has studied and emulated Prince and Michael Jackson's persona, voice and dance movements.  His hard work has transcended him into one of America's Top Prince Tribute Artist.

Bobby embodies and exudes the spirit of Prince on and off stage.  According to Bobby, "when it's time to perform,” Bobby feels as though he is the “real” deal.  Bobby promises to always keep the Prince Legacy alive!

Before we get into last night's photos, let me first honor Doc and Wilma Mullins for their years of volunteer devotion to the Princess Theatre.  Their leadership has fostered and mentored a well-disciplined crew of men and women who work for you, for absolutely free! The only pay they receive is your approval and thanks!
Please thank each one next you visit the Princess!

Sit back now and scroll through some of last night's most exciting moments.  You might even see yourself!

See you soon at the Princess!  KISS and Fleetwood Mac tribute bands are coming again soon!  Also, a Chicago tribute is coming!

The Temperance Town Brewhouse Coming To Harriman

I am pleased and proud to announce to you that something great is coming to Harriman!  A 20,000 square foot brewhouse in the former location of Rock Top General Store in beautiful downtown South Harriman! You will also be amazed and proud to have this establishment in our community. Look for Temperance Town Brewhouse to open sometime around late spring to early summer 2023.

There is something about hanging out with friends and family, enjoying great food, and drinks that can make for a great day. Meeting new people and making connections often adds to the experience. There are great breweries that have provided us with much needed sanctuary from a busy and chaotic world. A love for these kinds of places prompted Tri Dog Brewery Company to join in this effort to provide a great place to hang out and enjoy great company, in a relaxing atmosphere that allows one to enjoy the simple things in life. They are just 3 great guys, with 3 great dogs, that have been joined by others who are just as passionate about using simple ingredients with endless variations to create the perfect experience.

Their goal is to be a great addition to the community for family and friends to gather. They not only want to be a destination in which our community can be proud of, but also to attract visitors to the area. The Tri Dog Team is very experienced and uniquely skilled and qualified to take this idea and turn it into a special kind of reality.

The selection of the former Rocky Top General location was primarily based on the building offering several fantastic indoor spaces with views of the brewery area, and a large outdoor space for gathering and outdoor activities as well. The building has adopted a new name, Temperance Town Brewhouse. The name signifies the history of the town and the new tenants.

The building will be divided into 3 distinct sections:

The front of the building, which is over 3,000 square feet, will house the actual brewery and its components. Although the brewery will be visible from the taproom, it is elevated from the public taproom and segregated by the design of the building.
The basic layout of the brewery consists of metal brewhouse tanks and fermenters. The process works by cooking various grains that are then cooled and placed in fermenters. The grains remain in these tanks from a few days to a few months. They are then moved into kegs or other storage and moved into our walk in cooler ready for serving.
The middle section of over 4,000 square feet will house the taproom of Tri Dog Brewing Company creating a great shared seating and gathering space.

The Victoria event company, owned and directed by Angie Cox McGuinn, will occupy 6,000 square feet at the rear of the building. The event space has a separate entrance from the north parking area. This area will be used for weddings, receptions, business meetings, luncheons, etc. We also plan to host pop-up events like art classes, yoga, children’s events, and gallery showings. The event space has a dedicated catering area as well as storage for small wares, chafing dishes and other catering equipment.

The Patio Garden will be a privately fenced in space at the rear of the building with outdoor seating, a small stage for acoustical music, chalkboards and games for adults and kids. The family and pet friendly outdoor space will include a relaxing outdoor patio and garden area with comfortable seating, fun games like corn hole and Ring-O, chalkboards and board games. They anticipate building a privacy fence between our area and adjacent property owners. A small stage will be constructed for outdoor acoustic music. Also, the owners have promised a beautiful waterfall!

The upstairs will consist of space for corporate parties, changing space for wedding events and our corporate offices.

Oh, and the food they intend to offer will be great and unique! The menu will bring people back again and again! The founders have decades of experience in food service and have built relationships with many chefs that will help in designing an ever-changing menu of wonderful food. For their base menu, they have an agreement in principle with Melvin Jackson III of Fats BBQ to provide his delicious ribs and BBQ. Melvin is excited to show Harriman his capabilities with BBQ as well as his other offerings created for our location.
